Family Camps

What is it?

Each year we run two "Family Camps", each a week long.

Family camp is a holiday with a difference. It provides:

  • Bible Teaching and Worship
  • Free time
  • Good food
  • Opportunities for playing sport

The camp programme includes a daily Family Time which all are encouraged to attend.  In addition, there are groups for children, teens and adults.

On Sunday there are activities organized throughout the day. During the daytime, Monday to Friday, there will be free time to explore places in the area or to enjoy the facilities of the site, including the beach.

Breakfast and cooked evening meals are provided. Breads and spreads available for midday meals, or picnics.

Young and old, single or married are welcome.

You can either hire one of our large family ridge tents or you can bring your own tent or caravan for a site fee. Dogs are not allowed on site.

Who are the leaders?

Week One - Rodney and Debbie Cook

Picture of Rodney and Debbie Cook

“Debbie has been involved with Suffolk Christian Camps for over 40 years, as a camper and a camp worker. Rod has been on the organizing committee since the late 1970s and together we have led Family Camp since 1999.  We have 4 children, who all attended the various camps. Several of them are still involved with the camps, now as workers.

Rod has worked in managing local government services for many years and Debbie is a musician who teaches piano and flute.  We both enjoy walking in the countryside, reading and spending time with family and friends.

Family Camp gives all of us on camp an opportunity to focus on listening to God as we study God’s Word in a relaxing environment.  Over the years we have been challenged and encouraged to deepen our relationship with God through the sessions, conversations with others and also ‘time out’ individually with God.

It’s also through camp that we have made many lasting friendships. Our children have really enjoyed Family Camp over the years and again, they have gained so much from the Christian teaching they have received and the friends they have made.

Many people come back year after year to Family Camp – it is a combination of spending time with your own family, other families and God, in a lovely setting, with good food. There is a good mix of teaching sessions for the various age groups plus free time to relax or swim or visit local places of interest.”

Week Two - Andy and Rachel Mugford

Tony and Ruth Hood

”Ruth and Tony have 3 children; Kate, Alice and Ben.
Ruth and Tony have a passion to share the good news and truth of Jesus. They do this through their work in the schools where they introduce Jesus to the children and then follow that up with the Holiday Clubs and youth event in the local churches. They also have invitations from churches to run the children’s sessions at church weekends away Tony is an Elder in the local church, High Street Chapel, Hopton, who support us in their outreach work as they seek to follow up the schools program they have working with the children and, just as importantly, with their parents.
They like all sorts of outdoor sports and activities like walking, hiking and rock climbing, in fact anything that delivers a challenge.
